The United Way of Muscatine would like to thank the volunteers from HON, HNI, and Allsteel that supported United Way Day of Caring by walking in the July 4th as well as Great River Days parades wearing "Live United" t-shirts. We are also very excited to showcase our great new banner that was generously donated from them to aid in the awareness of our Day of Caring each year. We are thankful for the overwhelming support we have received from HON, HNI, and Allsteel! __________________________________________________________________ Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine The Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine actively works to improve the quality of life in Muscatine County through philanthropy. To accomplish this we work with charitable-minded individuals, businesses and organizations to:
While there are many differences between United Way and the Community Foundation, we share a common goal of improving the quality of life for those in greater Muscatine. Working together has created a greater cumulative impact for area residents and nonprofit organizations. The Community Foundation raised money locally for the flood relief efforts, but because of the association with Iowa community foundations local dollars were leverage to gain private, state-wide contributions through a program spearheaded by the Des Moines area community foundation known as Embrace Iowa. The Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine worked with United Way, and 15 other local groups, on the Muscatine- Louisa Long-term Recovery Committee to award available monies to hundreds of area flood victims. This created greater efficiencies in awarding funds while leveraging state, federal and local dollars to the best advantage for all concerned. Because United Way and the Community Foundation work closely with scores of area charitable nonprofits groups, we realize what tremendous resources they make available to residents. In order to continue to offer services and ensure the viability of these organizations, we know that staff and volunteers need development opportunities. That’s why we’ve worked together over the last few years to offer one-day workshops as well as an intensive training series. If you have thoughts on future collaborations or would like more information about the Community Foundation, please email cfgm@machlink.com or call 563-264-3896.
